About
Born in Antwerp, the trading capital of diamonds. Antwerp in the 16th century was known for its trading in textile, sugar and silver. Antwerp is renowned for its Renaissance Art and iconic architecture. Studied in French at Lycee d’Anvers for elementary education, then completed his secondary in Brussels school. Thereafter Santa Monica for Gemology GIA and Harvard.
Early Career
Whilst at University, formed Publiban - an advertising company. Publiban was the first platform to offer advertising on train platforms across Belgium and Holland. Before completing University sold Publiban to JC Decaux.
After Post Studies
Worked in mining in Africa under Konodiam, obtaining mining concessions in Sierra Leone and Guinea. Employed approximately 350 miners.
Later moved into trading and manufacturing in Belgium under the Gembel flagship.
Specialized in fancy colored diamonds — often considered the “rock stars” of auction houses such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s because they achieve some of the highest sale prices.
